Abstract

This article is the result of the research “Cinematographic culture in Cartagena 1958 - 1971” and analyzes the experience of seeing cinema in the city, during the sixties, according to the methodological approach of the social history of cinema. It is intended to follow the historical track of expectation, as a key aspect in the formation of filmic subjectivities in front of the cinematographic billboard of the time. An expectation relative to the tension between the cinema of tears, melodrama; and advanced cinema, especially the new Latin American cinema. A tension between the popular palace and the cinema club in a context of counterculture.
