Abstract

Educational research work carried out in the municipality of Huitzilac, Morelos, Mexico; whose general objective was to investigate which are the educational alternatives that could contribute to the formation of citizens that preserve the environment and forests. The methodology was based on: knowing the social and economic conditions of Huitzilac; analyze the actions of the government in the preservation of forests; review the primary and secondary education programs of the SEP; and in-depth interviews with Huitzilac teachers. Among the most important results, it is emphasized that environmental education should be developed as a transversal axis within the basic education curriculum to avoid knowledge fragmentation and allow students to know environmental problems in greater depth and in an integral manner.
