The article aims to contribute to studies on subnational democracies by examining citizen attitudes and perceptions and youth's relationship with politics. The empirical data presents opinions on topics such as trust in institutions, citizenship and social capital. It also describes how youth inform themselves about politics through digital and traditional media. The result of this paper describes the complexity of building citizenship and social capital, not only due to a growing disinterest in political participation through voting, but also due to a lack of social organization and interpersonal trust.
