Incidence in the Consumption of Child Pornography in Colombia and Mexico during the Lockdown of the First Semester of 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the use of ICT in the world as well as the number of users who visit pornographic pages. In the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (2006), child pornography is defined as any representation, by whatever means, of a child engaged in real or simulated explicit sexual activities, or any representation of the genital parts of a child for primarily sexual purposes. The pandemic also had a considerable impact on the volume of child pornography downloads. From March to April 2020, downloads increased 73% in Mexico. For its part, 498 complaints were reported in Colombia during the first half of 2020. The present study aims to review the incidence of the consumption of child pornography in Colombia and Mexico, specifically in the Department of Atlantico and in the State of Jalisco, respectively. This article is part of a mixed approach research in the field of the historical-hermeneutical paradigm, that is, its mission is to discover the meaning of things, interpret words, writings, and, in general, human behavior. The research method of this documentary-based study is inductive and descriptive. The main conclusion reached after comparing the statistics between Mexico and Colombia is that in both countries there was an increase in child pornography consumption in May followed by a decrease in June
