Dynamics of the political participation of afro-descendant social leaders in the context of the implementation of the peace agreements in the District of Barranquilla - Colombia

This article is one of the results of the research project "Dynamics of the political participation of Afro-descendant Social Leaders in the context of the implementation of the peace agreements between 2016 and 2020, in the District of Barranquilla-Colombia", developed in that same year, using the city of Barranquilla as a spatial reference. The general objective of the study was oriented to present the dynamics of the political participation of Afro-descendant Social Leaders in the context of the implementation of the peace agreements between 2016 and 2020, in the district of Barranquilla-Colombia. In addition, it was proposed to investigate the reasons that drive Social Leaders to break into political activity, taking into account the role that they assume from the peace accords of 2016; explain about the elements that have contributed to their interest in participating in political life. The research used a methodological design with a mixed approach and its type of study is descriptive, in which 10 Afro-descendant Social Leaders who reside in the District of Barranquilla participated. Similarly, a documentary and bibliographic review was carried out with the study of printed and digital documents; The focus group technique was applied to complement the information collected through a semi-structured questionnaire. The group discussion was used as a means to generate a deep understanding of the experiences, beliefs and political participation of the Leaders, with the support of the Meet technological platform due to the Covid-19 pandemic that affects the entire planet.
