Abstract

Listed as a ‘global pandemic’ by the World Health Organization, COVID-19 caused a change in society, especially in the way humans interact, due to social distancing to avoid contagion. Although social networks are not a phenomenon that emerged because of the appearance of COVID-19, they have become one of the most effective and used means to relate to others. Because the world is currently experiencing a situation of isolation, expressing our ideas has become more important these days. As a result, social networks have become one of the places where the fundamental right of freedom of expression is exercised. The objective of this article is to determine the limits of freedom of expression within social networks in times of COVID-19. This research is justified because it is focused on the fundamental right to freedom of expression. The methodology used is the historical-hermeneutical paradigm with a qualitative approach; the method is inductive; the type of research is descriptive. The main conclusion that can be drawn is that freedom of expression is a fundamental right within the Colombian legal system, but this does not mean that there should not be limitations in exercising this right
