Abstract

This study focuses on the short story: "O embondeiro que sonhava pássaros" [The Bird Dreaming Baobab] by Mia Couto published in the book: Cada homem é uma raça [Each man is a race] in 1990, focusing particularly on the reflection around the resistance that this narrative brings in its different layers. Reflection that is also made in the way the text is conceived, in its form, structure and language. The study starts from a comparative analysis with the author's essayistic and poetic production, especially with the book "O universo num grão de areia” [The Universe in a grain of sand] (2019). The aim is to analyze how Mia Couto's literature reconfigures a vision of the human that is, also by a new dignification, an act of resistance and an imperative of a new language.
