Abstract

Through the expression fairy consumption this article analyzes how the expressive and sexual excess of cuir characters in the Colombian book Un mundo huérfano opposes the social
mutilations and abuses they suffer. Their transgression implies an exaggerated use of homemade technologies to create dildos and sex toys, but also to combat the precariousness
that limits their access to more expensive forms of expression and entertainment. By proposing a reading of sexuality under a social class gaze, this text supports the Latin American
attempts to decenter the Eurocentric queer canon that continues to read bodies in terms of pride and neoliberal assimilation.
