Abstract

It is an approach to the first three books of the poet José Watanabe - Álbum de familia [Family Album] (1971), El huso de la palabra [The Word Reel] (1989) e Historia natural [Natural History] (1994)-, who is one of the most powerful writers of Latin American poetry. This essay is proposed as a support for a wider textuality, which is capable of tracing the route to approach the complete work of the Peruvian poet. Hermeneutic reading is conceived as a place where poetics inhabits, which lets to advise the awe arisen by the way the poet uses symbols, as a feature of an aesthetic anchored to the quotidian, whose purpose is to evidence its cracks/anomalies as a manner of pointing out the forces that oppress the subject in that terrain that we call reality.
