COLA DE ZORRO ¿OTRA HIERBA MALA DE CARIBE?

Abstract

Este escrito ahonda en la construcción simbólica que, con respecto a la familia, se hace en Cola de zorro de Fanny Buitrago. La tesis central señala que dicha construcción obedece a la evaluación del sistema patriarcal; una evaluación que apunta a considerar a las familias patriarcales cimentadas sobre la base del matriarcado. Aunque parezca contradictorio, en la obra se conforma el poder masculino como máscara del poder femenino. Los hombres son presentados como débiles, manipulables, o instrumentos de las mujeres, mientras que éstas son configuradas como determinantes de los hilos de las familias. Con el análisis formal se desarrolla la explicación de esta tesis.

ABSTRACT

This paper goes over the symbolic construction of the family in Cola de zorro by Fanny Buitrago. The main thesis explores that construction as an evaluation of the patriarchal system. This evaluation considers that these patriarchal families are build up on the matriarchal system. In it men appear to be instruments governed by strong women and the true power is the female and not the masculine one. These women are the determining forces of the family development which might seem inconsistent with the idea of the patriarchal order, but that’s the way it is configured by Buitrago’s narrative. This thesis is going to be developed on the romance’s formal study.
