ROBERTO MONTES MATHIEU: REALISMO CRUDO ENTRE LO BREVE, LO MORDAZ Y LO ERÓTICO*

Resumen

El presente artículo se acerca a la obra completa de Roberto Montes Mathieu, quien con habilidad e ingenio trata los elementos que constituyen su singularidad. En primer lugar, el realismo como postura que refleja la naturaleza humana sin ninguna idealización, prevaleciendo lo objetivo en narraciones que son presentadas como verdaderas, pero que, sin embargo, inducen al cuestionamiento de la lógica; en segundo término, lo breve como columna vertebral, la concisión que cada vez se depura más. En tercera instancia, el humor negro ligado a ese sinsentido Caribe que lo hace posible todo, provocando al tiempo la risa y el asombro. Por último, lo erótico manifiesto en una sexualidad de pantalones largos, que es vida y muerte, aparejada con poder y goce, más que con sensualidad y sexo puro. Así, su propuesta estética es un aporte fundamental para la construcción del canon de la mini ficción en el Caribe colombiano.

ABSTRACT

This article makes an approach to the complete work by Roberto Montes Mathieu, who uses –with ability and creativity– all the elements that constitute his singularity. The first is realism as the position that reflects the human nature with no idealization, giving more importance to the objective issue in narrations that are presented as real, but that –anyhow– induce to the questioning of the logic. Second, there is the concept of briefness as the spinal cord; the conciseness that is permanently purified. Third, there is the black humour linked to that Caribbean senseless that allows everything, causing laughter and astonishment at the same time. Finally, there is eroticism, evidenced in a long-sleeve pants sexuality that is life and death, paired rather with power and joy, than with sensuality and pure sex. Hence, its aesthetic proposal is a fundamental contribution for the construction of the canon of the mini-fiction in the Colombian Caribbean.
