CUENTACHISTES Y PREDICADORES EN EL PARQUE CENTENARIO DE CARTAGENA: UN MODO DE HABITAR Y RECORRER LA CIUDAD

Resumen

Este ensayo  propone repensar los modos como los sujetos populares en Cartagena de Indias se apropian de los lugares en la ciudad y cómo con sus usos les otorgan significados nuevos. A partir de la narración de chistes y la predicación del evangelio que distintos personajes llevan a cabo en el parque Centenario, verificaremos algunas de las formas en que los actores sociales intervienen la ciudad desde la vida cotidiana, alterando con sus recorridos y desvíos el proyecto urbanístico de los planificadores oficiales. Las prácticas culturales en las que nos centramos hacen parte de una ritualidad urbana en la que sus miembros habitan e intervienen de manera colectiva el parque Centenario y con él un fragmento de la ciudad, propiciando de esta manera otros espacios de interacción y afiliación social, en el contexto urbano.

ABSTRACT

This essay pretends to rethink the ways in which the common inhabitants of Cartagena de Indias take the places of the city for themselves, and how they give these places new meanings with the use they have of them. Beginning with the joke telling activity and the preaching of the Gospel that make different characters in the Centenario park, we will verify some of the ways in which the social actors intervene the city from the daily life, altering- with their tours and detours - the urban project the official planners have. The cultural practices in which we focus on belong to an urban ritual in which its members -as a whole- inhabit and intervene at the Centenario park, and hence at a fragment of the city, allowing in this way other interaction contexts and social integration in the urban context.
