CIEN AÑOS DE SOLEDAD Y LA CRÍTICA COLOMBIANA

Resumen

El presente artículo se centra en el tratamiento que la crítica literaria colombiana dio a Cien años de soledad en el momento de su publicación. Inicialmente aparece en Lecturas Dominicales de El Tiempo, el 24 de mayo de 1987. El texto tiene como punto de partida el revuelo que ocasionó la publicación –en 1907– de Pax, la primera novela política colombiana, de la autoría de Lorenzo Marroquín y José María Rivas Groot, y el modo en que la crítica se comportó ante este fenómeno. El documento cobra vigencia en el marco de las reflexiones que se hacen en la presente edición de Cuadernos de Literatura del Caribe e Hispanoamérica, en torno a la obra de Gabriel García Márquez.

ABSTRACT

The current article is focused on the treatment that the literary Colombian critics offered to One Hundred Years of Solitude, when published. First, it is distributed in El Tiempo –Colombian newspaper– Lecturas Dominicales –Sunday Readings– section on May 24th, 1987. The text has, as its main goal, the commotion caused by the publication of Lorenzo Marroquín and José María Rivas Groot’s novel Pax in 1907, and the way in which the critics behaved before this phenomenon. The document is valid in the frame of reflections made in the current edition of Cuadernos de Literatura del Caribe e Hispanoamérica – Caribbean and Hispanic-American Literature Notebooks–, regarding the work of Gabriel García Márquez.
