HIBERNANDO EN EL TRÓPICO: MELANCOLÍA, MODERNIDAD Y METAFICCIÓN EN LA NOVELA DOS O TRES INVIERNOS DE ALBERTO SIERRA VELÁSQUEZ

Resumen

Este ensayo busca posicionar la novela Dos o tres inviernos, del cartagenero Alberto Sierra Velásquez, en el lugar destacado que merece ocupar en los estudios de literatura colombiana, sobre todo al hablar de la novela urbana y sus antecedentes. El análisis primero hace una revisión sobre las posibles razones que llevaron a su invisibilización en diferentes estudios de la crítica literaria nacional; luego analiza la propuesta estética de la novela desde su tematización de la crisis de la modernidad, y sus efectos sobre la constitución de la identidad de la mujer protagonista, efectos entre los que se destacan la melancolía, el tedio y la crisis de los metarrelatos. El ensayo aborda la manera en que es poetizada la ciudad de Cartagena en la novela y, por último, explica también el sentido estético de las técnicas experimentales que, a partir de la metaficción, exigen un lector activo para Dos o tres inviernos.

ABSTRACT

This essay pretends to place the novel Dos o tres inviernos, (Two or Three Winters) by Alberto Sierra Velásquez in the distinctive position it deserves among Colombian Literature studies, especially when it concerns to the urban novel and its background. The analysis originally reconsiders the possible reasons that caused the national literary critic to neglect it. The aesthetic proposal of the novel is also analyzed from its theme on the crisis of modernity and its effects over the constitution of identity in the female main character; considering effects such as melancholy, tedium, and the crisis of meta-stories (stories within stories). This essay also portrays the way in which the city of Cartagena is poetized in the novel and finally, it explains the aesthetic trend of the experimental techniques that used meta-fiction and that hence, require an active reader for Dos o tres inviernos.
