Abstract

The research titled “Mathematics on Stage: Psychodrama and Typhlology as Bridges to Educational Inclusion for People with Visual Impairments” aims to design, implement, and evaluate an innovative didactic strategy that integrates pedagogical psychodrama dynamics with typhlological resources for primary school students with visual impairments at Fundación Fundave. This proposal addresses the barriers faced by this population in learning mathematics, a subject traditionally taught through visual supports that are inaccessible to them.
The study employs a participatory qualitative approach involving eight weekly 90-minute sessions: four psychodrama sessions for experiencing key mathematical concepts (number system, basic operations, space, and measurement), and four typhlology workshops with tactile practice using adapted Braille, tiflotechnological abacus, and sensory materials. The evaluation combines systematic observations, semi-structured interviews, field diaries, and adapted mathematical comprehension tests, along with motivation questionnaires applied before and after the intervention. The expected outcomes include significant improvements in students’ conceptual understanding, motivation, and autonomy, as well as the development of a replicable didactic model enabling other institutions to adapt and apply this strategy, thereby contributing to the educational inclusion of people with visual impairments in mathematics learning.
