Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate the technical and environmental feasibility of implementing an online monitoring network for the 990 kWp solar photovoltaic system of the Universidad del Atlántico - Sede Norte. The proposal includes the integration of IoT technology and network analyzers (RA) to improve the collection and analysis of power generation data. The methodology encompasses the installation of 13 Circutor CVM-10 analyzers connected to the existing ethernet network, along with the development of a graphical interface in Python to facilitate real-time data visualization and analysis. In addition, environmental benefits are evaluated using, among others, the ISO 14064 standard to calculate the carbon footprint reduction derived from the use of the PV system. Preliminary results indicate that the online monitoring network will allow for greater operational efficiency of the system, improving energy management and the ability to adapt to future expansions. Positive impacts in terms of sustainability are also highlighted, positioning this project as a reference for other institutions seeking to implement renewable energy solutions. The conclusions underline the importance of this network not only for optimizing energy efficiency, but also as a step towards mitigating climate change by reducing carbon emissions.
