This study aims to evaluate the impact of an immersion program in Canada on the development of oral English skills among students at a public university on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It focuses on examining how aspects of oral proficiency, such as fluency, accuracy, and confidence in language production, are influenced by the immersion experience. The methodology will employ a qualitative approach, collecting data through surveys and structured classroom observations to capture the participants' experiences. The research will also review key factors in language acquisition, such as interaction with native speakers and the structure of the program, which may have facilitated linguistic development. Through interpretive analysis, the study will explore students' perceptions of the program's impact, providing a deeper understanding of the benefits and challenges of learning in an immersion environment. Expected outcomes include significant improvements in oral proficiency, particularly in students' confidence to communicate in English, as well as the identification of critical areas for enhancing study abroad programs. The conclusions will highlight the effectiveness of immersion programs as key educational tools for developing oral skills in a second language and will propose recommendations for optimizing these programs in future similar contexts.
